Meditation Mondays: How To Change How You Feel in Any Moment

Life is feelings. Our lives are built on our feelings. When I tap in to my real feelings, I feel a light, buzzing feeling under my skin, and I am and more aware of the present moment. That is when I know I am on the right track.

How do you feel?

Right in this moment, do you feel how you want to feel? How about an hour ago, or three hours ago? How are you anticipating that you will feel in the next few hours? Is it where you want to be?

Are the feelings you identified the feelings you would feel if everything in your life were exactly as you would like it to be in this moment?

When I am feeling upset, frustrated, negative, gross, angry, exhausted, frazzled…I know I am off track. There are so many surface feelings designed to protect our egos that cause major problems. Letting go of them and allowing the real feelings to come to the surface allows us to live our real lives that we are meant for; not the ones that are designed to protect our egos.

How do you want to feel?

Envisioning life to be as we would like it to be has everything to do with feeling the feeling of being in that state. This is where the light, buzzing feeling comes in. It is a great feeling. The feeling of being alive and having a choice, rather than being a victim. It is a major gift to ourselves to clear the space and time to feel the good feelings in life.

Being consciously in this state allows creative ideas to flow. If it feels awkward, that’s probably because you aren’t used to feeling so good (I know it feels awkward for me, and I take that as a good sign).

We are not victims of time or the demands of others. We choose. Our lives are the products of our choices, especially the little choices everyday that seem too insignificant to have an impact. Those are the most significant, because one choice turns into thousands just like it, which create a life.

How To Change How You Feel

Meditation is my number one answer for tapping in to our real feelings. After focusing on what I am grateful for (including what I intend, as if it were already here) for about ten minutes (or half of my total meditation time), I spend the same amount of time simmering in the feeling of already living the life of my dreams.

I try to remember to carry that feeling with me throughout the day. I am not 100% going around feeling great in this state of being where I already want to be (although that is ideal), but I work to consciously correct my thoughts the rest of the day as much as possible to align with my vision. When my thoughts are aligned with my vision, my feelings are aligned. Which is the most important part of the whole manifestation process.

Being aligned in feelings incites action. It is almost impossible not to act in the direction of your dreams when you are feeling so good about already being there. It also helps to remove the fear of starting or taking a step forward. If you already know you are successful, you don’t have to worry that you are doing it wrong or that you will mess up. All that confusion and stress is already behind you!

Your Turn

Close your eyes and envision the aspect of your life you most want to change as already being exactly as you would like it to be. Be as specific and detailed as possible in your vision, and allow yourself to feel how it feels to already be there and to not have to want something in your life to be different anymore. Take a few deep breaths, and continue to feel the feelings. Open your eyes when you are ready.

Were you able to change how you feel? Now allow yourself to do that as often as you want (at least once a day), and keep those good feelings with you as often as possible. You might find yourself feeling better more often!

This is excellent advice! I often remind myself that the things I want to change are not major problems and I don’t need to worry about them now; but I need to do more of what you suggest and imagine them already changed, because that shifts the feelings along with the thoughts! 🙂

Yes Meg! That’s the spirit 🙂 It is not always easy, but neither is worrying. I think remembering to do it is the hardest part, but once you start, it can be addicting in a good way!

    Hi Annie,

What a great exercise you have given us! I’ve practiced that and it sure works! Who wants to walk around dragging? I sure don’t!

It takes a few moments to do. And the more we do it the better we get at it. I would add make this one habit to add to your life!

Definitely Donna! It is so wonderful to realize that we have the power to change how we feel, and that we don’t have to consent to feeling down. Yes, a great new habit for 2015! Thank you for your thoughts!
